There are many people who might claim that their hotel is among the best in the UK. It may be that there is a particular brand of hotels which is much better than the rest or that certain independent hotels stands out. The thing is that how do you know which is the best? There are lists of best hotels available but they are just the opinion of one person.

Because we all have different requirements as to what we consider to be the best, then it is impossible to believe anyone else when they say that they have found the best hotel. It is possible to find websites which list good hotels and find guides and things like that. This should be a good indication of who is mainly considered to be the best. However, if you have specific taste when it comes to hotels or are looking for things that perhaps other people may not be, then you may not agree.

It is a good idea to think back to stays you have had in the past at hotels and think about what it was that you liked and disliked. It may be something that is not so obvious, perhaps the attention to detail in the rooms, the friendly staff, the organic breakfast, the décor in the rooms or the cleanliness of the bathrooms.

It is probably a good idea to use your list of requirements with the list of the best UK hotels and then you should be able to come up with your best hotel from the list that you have found. If you have found several sources of best hotels then this could be a good way to choose between them. If some places appear on both lists then there is a higher chance that they will be really outstanding.

It may be necessary to pick the cheapest, but if you do have a little money to spare, then it is a good idea to see what else is around. You are likely to find that the reason a hotel is cheap s because it is not as good. It may be that it is not as close to the main attractions in the area than the dearer ones. It may be that it is not a luxurious or that it does not have so many things included in the price.

It is a good idea to think about what you want from a hotel before you choose one. Think about how important factors are to you such as the quality of the breakfast, whether it has an evening meal, how big the rooms are, whether it has en-suite bathrooms and how nice the fixtures and fittings are. You may not care what it is like but just need a cheap bed for the night. You might love hotel breakfasts and want a good one. You might want a big en-suite room to make your stay really relaxing.

Then you can look for a hotel which fits your criteria and you can then compare prices of the ones that you have found. You will then be able to see what sort of value for money they offer as you will know exactly what features each has and therefore what it is that you are paying for. Remember that what some people might term as an expensive hotel may no longer seem that dear when you have looked at exactly what you get for that money.

You can look at the website read reviews and speak to them but there is still no guarantee that the place that you have chosen is the right one for you. The best way to choose a good hotel is by asking people who have stayed in the area and getting them to recommend one. This is all well and good if you know someone who has stayed in that area, but if not then you are not able to use this.

It is a good idea to look at the photographs of the place on the website. Remember that these pictures will show the very best rooms and so you are not likely to get something quite as good as this. It is also a good idea to look for reviews which are not on their website. They are unlikely to put any bad ones on their own website but you might find some more unbiased ones on other Internet places.

It is always a good idea to phone them at different times of the day in order to find out what the customer service is like. Ask them different questions and this will give you a good idea as to how good they are at answering this sort of thing but you will also be able to find out information about the place.

Sometimes you can get a good feel of a place when you visit it and so if you are not booking in advance you could always visit a few places to see what they are like. Enquire about the prices and whether they have vacancies and you will be able to see what the décor is like, what sort of people are already staying there and what the staff are like face to face.

Escape this autumn and book a break on the holiday island of Lanzarote, in the Canaries.  Many first time visitors know little about this unique island.  And as a result Lanzarote´s many attractions and natural wonders often come as something of a surprise.

It is probably best known for its volcanic terrain.  Now many islands were of course formed by eruptions and seismic activity but on Lanzarote this all happened as recently as the 18th century.  The mere blink of an eye in geological terms.  As this means that wind and rain (what little falls here anyway) has had no real time to erode the lava fields.  So they are pretty much pristine – creating an unusual if not downright surreal sight.  Which not only dazzles tourists but also has served as backdrop for feature films and photo shoots.

This whole area is so important that it is now a national park and can be glimpsed from your plane widow as you arrive at Arrecife airport, which is where all flights to Lanzarote touch down.  The airport is handily located as it is quite central, making it easier to get to the main resorts which are all within a forty minute radius.  There are no shuttle services though so you may want to book your Lanzarote airport transfers prior to arrival on the island.

Your flight leaves at 6am, this means checking in two to three hours beforehand, which also means getting up in the middle of the night to travel to the airport. It’s not really ideal, and not the most thrilling part about going on holiday. Does it have to be like this though? Most people don’t think of booking an airport hotel – or if they do, they don’t think they can afford it. Surprisingly, you can book Heathrow airport hotels and Gatwick airport hotels for a very reasonable price – not bad considering these are the two biggest UK airports.

There are quite a few advantages of booking an airport hotel – it’s not until you think about one that you realise its benefits. You can forget the mega-early wake-up call and long drive to the airport on the morning you fly, you can start your holiday a day early, and you can also relax and make use of all the hotel’s facilities. Once you’ve had a pleasant night’s sleep, you know you won’t have far to travel before you’re at check-in. Another good thing is the hotel will normally run buses to and from the airport for its guests.

You’re bound to find an airport hotel to suit you: 2, 3, 4 and 5-star hotels, hotels right at the airport within walking distance of the terminal, hotels outside the airport grounds (these usually have a better price tag than on-airport hotels), hotels with family rooms, hotels with great facilities for disabled guests – and the list goes on…

There’s no need to book airport parking separately either – that’s if you need it, of course. You can combine a hotel stay with parking for the time you’re away. You either park your car at the hotel itself, or at a local airport car park. Some hotel parking packages include Meet and Greet parking. This is where a chauffeur collects your car from you and parks it in a secured car park while you’re away. When you return from your holiday, the chauffeur brings it back to the terminal for you – job done. A great service if you’ve got lots of luggage, travelling with kids or if you’re disabled.
